SAF™ Airlaid fabrics are capable of absorbing many times their own weight in water/saline and locking it away inside their core. They are widely used within absorbent food packaging applications due to them being relatively cost effective. As the SAF™ fibres do not migrate, such fabrics don’t require edge sealing which takes another step/cost out of the conversion process.

SAF™ Airlaid fabrics are typically a blend of SAF™, wood pulp and thermal-bondable fibre. Airlaid webs within excess of 60% SAF™fibre content can be achieved at fabric weights of approximately 50-1000gsm and can be created within excess of 80% SAF™. Laminates and other finishes are also possible top achieve additional functionality.

SAF™ – a soft superabsorbent fibre – is the key component in all of our fabrics. SAF™ fabrics absorb water and saline rapidly with excellent retention levels. Blood plasma can also be absorbed with greater resistance to solids blocking the surface. The SAF™ content does not shed when the fabrics are being cut and shaped for use. Fabric selection will be influenced by the final end use, but also many other requirements –absorbency, thickness, durability, and, often most importantly, budget. An experienced development team are on hand to offer advice and help with initial fabric selection for trials. Where possible, bespoke fabrics will be designed and manufactured to meet specific requirements. Contact us for more information
