Superabsorbent Nonwoven Filtration Fabrics for Water Removal
Water removal from oils and fuels is essential in certain industrial, hydraulic and automotive situations to reduce degradation, downtime and system failure. SAF™ Absorbent Filtration Nonwoven Fabrics can be used as a filter media to remove dissolved, dispersed and free water from low viscosity oils, e.g. aviation fuel and automotive diesel to very low ppm levels. Such water removal fabrics offer high levels of water absorption for oil/fuel purification (de-watering/fuel polishing) with minimal shedding. In addition, the SAF™ component does not affect oil additives.

SAF™ Superabsorbent Needlepunch Fabrics
These superabsorbent felt fabrics are more robust than others within our range. They offer greater strength and integrity due to the nature of mechanical and thermal bonding used during manufacture. They are generally less dense but still offer the same great levels of absorption. This makes them an ideal filtration media and are already used in a range of filtration products, including water absorbent filter bags to capture and remove water from oils and fuels down to very low ppm levels.
SAF™ Needlepunch fabrics are typically a blend of SAF™ and other synthetic fibres. Webs can be produced at a wide range of fabric weights, typically between 150-1,000gsm. Laminates and other finishes are also possible to achieve additional functionality.
SAF™ – a soft fibrous superabsorbent – is the key component in all of our fabrics. SAF™ fabrics absorb water and saline rapidly with excellent retention levels. The SAF™ content does not shed when the fabrics are being cut and shaped for use. Learn more about SAF™
